Not much to report this week

I’ve made two purchases, one I have received and one I’m waiting to get an email to go and collect.

Both items are laying the ground work for future mods

So I have purchased a mk4 highline BCM (5K0937087AK) but waiting to get the email to say it’s been removed and I can go pick it up

Following on from reading @Fishermansfriend thread „A Good Caddy“ I have also purchased a replacement Can Gateway to allow future mods

I need to take a ride across to Sheffield once I have everything to go and get all my recent additions coded.

Well went to pick the BCM up yesterday that I agreed to buy for a price based on being told it was a 5K0937087AK. However when it was handed to me it was clearly not as described  I believe from threads I’d read on here that the BCM presented in front of me would do all the retrofits I was looking for, so I used my skills of negotiation and got £54 knocked off :D

Anyway I‘m now the proud owner of mk4 086 BCM. Now time to get a few bits of coding done 8) Just not sure whether now I have a mk4 BCM whether it will still need to be flashed for mk4 rear lights lower bar :?:

Back in October we travelled from Doncaster down to the monthly Bluewater meet which happened to be their 7th Anniversary.

The day of the meet I went to a local tyre place to get my front wheels rebalanced and tracking redone as I seemed to have a bit of vibration at 70mph and was conscious we had a long journey. I had also in the days leading upto the meet I decided to rebadge the rear and installed the front gloss black VW badge I bought when I first got it, got one for the rear as well but never mind

Also LLLparts order number 6 was completed and arrived, but currently is still sat in the garage. As I have realised over Christmas the push in clip holders were damaged when who ever removed them :(

The Bluewater journey....

We set off around 14:30 and had a good journey down until we were most of the way down the M11 heading for the M25 and everything came to a standstill. Unbeknown to us there had been a bad accident on the M25 not long after we set off from home and the M25 was closed to allow the air ambulance to land. This had a massive knock on, so a journey that should have taken just over 3 hours took around 6.5 hours :( However in my opinion I think it was worth the journey, the family did not as the shopping centre was just closing as we got there!!

Anyway there were loads of vans there, some I knew were Caddy2K members and others were people I follow Instagram :D

Made a last minute purchase late on the last day of Black week but as I was busy from then leading uptown Christmas due to a plant breakdown at work I haven't done anything with them.

So yesterday I set about stripping down the front end for the first time as I haven't removed the bumper since getting my Caddy, not a difficult job just got to be methodical like most things. Many of the fixings were looking very aged and in some cases rusty :( but everything came apart ok :D

I have had instilled at me from an old boy at work many years ago that we should leave stuff in a better state than we found it. So I cleaned up the torx screws I had removed and the black hammerite came out again!! At some point in the future I will look at some form of dress up bolts under the bonnet, but that can be next year!!

All back together, changes the look of the front :D I've seen numerous van with these lights but never a Reflex Silver
Image

I have been on the look out for a Mk4 rear bumper for a while, they don't seem to come up very often. I did buy a Pure Grey one from my local Synetiq, but they managed to damage it while removing so I refused to accept it and funnily enough its now on Ebay  Anyway another has come up this time in Reflex Silver with very little damage and rear PDC sensors, so I can fit it straight away and it can be repainted when the van goes in for its other work. Fingers cross this one doesn't get damaged when they remove it!!

Unfortunately yesterday my wife was picking up the boy from school and the van went into limp mode and the coil light was flashing :(

I hooked the van up to my OBDeleven which showed this https://www.caddy2k.com/forum/viewtopi ... 319c3a02d2 :( So looks like I’m going to be getting at least one new diesel injector

Anyway to cheer myself up today I went across to Synetiq to collect the mk4 rear bumper I bought over Christmas along with a little something extra :D

I did have some Golf GTE seats lined up, however since I’m expecting to spend quite a bit sorting my injector issue they will have to wait. However I have still purchased the heated seat AC control unit while I was at Synetiq

On receiving the heated seat AC control unit I found it was scratched and damaged in numerous places. So I decided to strip down my good AC control unit and make one good unscratched unit from the two.

Built up what was left, but will probably heading for the bin!!

Van is still sat just waiting for parts to arrive, I thought it would be injectors I’d be waiting on as there was a lead time at most places I enquired.

I have chosen to purchase two injectors to replace #1 as well as #2. #1 looks to have been changed in the past but looks like a “refurbished unit” as the codes have been scrubbed off the top and a sticker on the side. I bought these from https://www.pfjones.co.uk/volkswagen-ca ... 40080.html which I found on a thread on here. They were the cheapest by about £50 each and the service was spot on

I have also chosen to buy enough seals to replace 4 injectors and also the 4 injector to rocker cover seals. I got these from AUTODOC

Image

Just waiting on the holding down bolts from LLLParts through eBay to arrive and then I can get it repaired
