Re: Micro Camper Daily Driver Build
There seems to be a hundred little jobs and for me at least, some uncertainty when it comes to the bigger jobs. This is one of those milestone tasks started.
For anyone thinking of doing the same, it's these decisions that can cause procrastination.
Do I go for the smooth panel look
Do I add windows to the back
Do I carpet the window recesses or add a separate panel
Where do I want lights, sockets etc
Do I have to cover every little hole in tape
Do I accommodate a breather hole for the rear vents
And a hundred more besides.
So what's the plan.
As you can see I am keeping the panels for the wiring access separate. As I'm adding sockets there anyway and it's really useful to be able to access these for maintenance.
You might note there is no insulation in the window panel. The reason is that I am adding an insulated panel on top of that and the wires hanging down will be for an illuminated VW badge or task light. That will fit in the void

Both sides now carpeted.
Second side was easier. Got some tips from the same place that did my windows when I picked up some more carpet.
Glue along the top, work down until you get to the arch and glue the centre of the arch and work from the rest of the carpet either side. One thing I picked up on various videos was to keep tension on the carpet as you work.

Sliding door store progress. Card model was transferred to CAD as I did with the barn door. This time lots more space!
Cut out on the laser cutter in card first to check that it fitted and then cut in hardboard once I corrected the holes around the edge.
While I was at it thought it seems a great opportunity to add a VW logo.
Carpeting next

Couldn't get any takers for the Caddy Life carpets that I picked up from a scrap yard and had decided to eBay. With the prospect of binning them, I had nothing to lose by cutting them up to see if they would fit. With a bit of effort got them in. Also fitted the freshly painted trim delete panels that came from the same Life.
Already painted the lower B trim panel and then patched in the hole that had the alarm switch on

Re: Micro Camper Daily Driver Build
Thank you.
Yes still got the other door card to do. As mentioned the plan is to put a slide out bed on the right side which will make getting to the lower compartments of the door card not possible so plan is to make one large compartment. Most of the work is already done. Just some changes to the CAD file.

Thank you. Not a patch on what you have done though. Your project is insane and the progress you have made in such a short time.
