BG caddy back windows

Post by Birdy1989 »

Hello there, new to the forum. Recently purchased ex British Gas caddy maxi and looking to convert. Want to put two back windows in. Are the existing back panels relatively easy to remove? What are are they held on with? It looks from inside like there would be no need to do any cutting into the chassis and I could potentially just remove the back door blue panels and replace with my windows. Is this the case or is it a bigger job? Any help much appreciated.

I've heard there are plastic panels in some BG Caddys. Assuming they are bonded with sealant like glass is then you could get a glass removing tool. It's like a cheese wire but for removing windows by cutting through the sealant. I think I have seen them sold for a few quid on eBay.

I have blacked out glass.

2011. Think things changed depending on year.

2015 Model ex-BG Caddy here.

Mine has windows in from BG, covered on the inside by stick on black plastic and screwed in metal covers.

Worth double checking what you have behind whatever it came with

Early BG Caddies had black glass fitted as the factory could not fit solid panels. The later ones were converted to BG spec at the factory in Poland and did have solid panels bonded in. The panels are bonded in as when built the robot painted the insides of the van through the rear doors.
The polish converted ones can be spotted with the air vent on the drivers side sliding door and the exit vent on the roof at the rear.

Did you have any luck with taking these panels out and retrofitting with windows? Have the same issue on my new caddy maxi.
