Just a little update until my build is back up and running. This is for me a sad update. The road people/ council need to sort out theses pot holes and one of the big ones that I couldn’t avoid has damaged one of my freshly painted wheels
As you can see it has taken lumps out of the paint and the wheel itself and at £90 a wheel for a refurb it’s not good
Shittah!
Roads are a joke, and no chance of compensation when things like this happen. Im tempted to go down to 16s with puffy tyres.
If it makes you feel any better, some loser keyed my bonnet recently. I’m gonna try the build up of lacquer/wet sand/polish technique until I can get it sorted properly.
@peter
Our roads are shocking. It will probably cost me £100 to get the wheel refurbished.
As for the welding I’ve had a friend show me and help me to weld. But I’m getting there as they say practice makes perfect
As I’m waiting for my rear axle and caliper brackets to come back from powder coating. I thought I would see if I could make bonnet prop and door holders out of some metal rods and rope clips.
I had to cut the rod down to size and weld the (let’s just say hook and eye) to each end.
I had to put them at 45 degrees from each other at opposite ends so they could attach themselves to the door and door closer
Haven’t decided whether to rap them, paint them or put carbon on them
I think they haven’t turned out to bad at the moment
Looking good Sean. I was looking for your build thread the other day, but still not back up? I was going to ask you how you got on with the arch kit you were going to fit? Can I ask what one you bought and what you had to do?
I’ve got to replace my drivers side front wing and thought as I’ll take the van off the road for a few days I may aswell look into doing this while it’s off the road.
@Dislexicdonkey
The arch trims I have I bought from vanstyle. They are for a mk4 caddy so they are slightly different at the front. I had to cut the front ones to make them fit weld them together, fill and paint them. Hopefully when my build thread is back up you will be able to see how I made it work as I did take photos as I went through the process.
