F ING van, adblue issue.
Half solved a fueling issue which has cost a small fortune, and now got another.
Adblue.
My van has an adblue warning, 650 miles till no-start, it has thrown up two adblue codes, and a guy with ODIS is telling me that there is no known fix for this problem.
So my questions are....
Who has an adblue software delete?
And does it pass a legit MOT?
Has anyone had a van with a delete and it failed on emissions during the MOT?
If you have a delete, but have a friendly MOT tester who just passes it, I'm happy for you, but I don't need to know that.
I don't really want to delete it, but at the same time, this van pays my bills, and the situation is just balls enough to do so.

What codes are you getting? No known fix for the problem sounds to me like you should go see someone else.

Re: F ING van, adblue issue.
P204F00 Reductant system performance.
P20EE00 SCR Nox catalyst efficiency below threshold.
Normally I would think what you did, but this guy has one of the largest workshops in the West Midlands, has always worked on VWs, and pays a fortune for ODIS which he specialises in.
ODIS cannot find a problem, but the codes are there and the clock is ticking. From looking online, there are many more people in the same boat with an adblue issue that can't be fixed at a dealer.

I know this is not the answer you're still waiting on bit Wynn's do a product that might be worth trying seeing as you have nothing to lose.

Re: F ING van, adblue issue.
Had the same faults & issues, 2018 2.0 102.
Make sure you use the correct adblue, it’s iso 12241-1, I use redex stuff now.
I think mine was a combination of incorrect adblue, short running, and when it was doing a regen I was leaving it at idle in the drive.
I syphoned the adblue tank as much as I could, tank is 9l and I probably got half of it out, used redex but still had the fault periodically. I would say this was just until the tank had the redex adblue in it.
There is a post on here about it, I was advised to check if I was using the correct adblue.
To clear the adblue mileage warning you need to drive for about 40/50 miles and it should go out but the management light will stay on.

Re: F ING van, adblue issue.
Adblue is what they added for euro 6 and it's a urea compound and water, sprayed into the exhaust stream to control NOx levels coming out of the exhaust. Most systems have an injector for this and a NOx sensor, NOx is produced when air is partly burned, creating oxides of nitrogen (NOx)
Now if you have even a small leak in the exhaust, not enough to hear but enough to pull a small amount of air into the exhaust stream, the NOx levels will rise to the sensor and it tries to inject more adblue to compensate. Eventually crystals form on the injector nozzle and the sensor. These 3 things are worth checking.
Next, adblue has a shelf life of about 18 months from new and most petrols stations buy a load at once then leave it sitting about, it goes bad before you buy it so check the use by date on the cannister before buying or using as it's no use once it goes off.
On a diesel the emissions test is still a visible smoke test at the moment and I am certain MOT stations don't yet test for NOx but could be wrong these days - my 2017 Berlingo van had the adblue injector coded out and it sailed through the MOT with no mention of that.
For a trial you can pay £20 if even that, for an emissions test at a station or garage with the kit, see if it passes before an actual MOT is needed.

Re: F ING van, adblue issue.
Definitely good advice, i have only ever put ISO 12241 in it, and it has been perfect since ive had it, just not now.
I have also took it on long drives to try and clear the codes but they are not budging at the moment.

Re: F ING van, adblue issue.
I have read your advice somewhere else too and definitely could be factors.
Unfortunately for me, my latest tub of redex is in date until october this year, and the exhaust seems absolutely solid.
I guess i have to pull the injector and see if i can see any blockage and go from there.

Re: F ING van, adblue issue.
I did the same when I first got the van & it never missed a beat, only after about 2 years of use I started getting the faults & then changed to redex iso 12241-1.
You probably need about 40 miles non stop to clear the adblue mileage warning.

Re: F ING van, adblue issue.
So 22241 and 22241-1 are two completely different types of adblue?
When I look on the redex website, it only has -1, but all over the Internet it has -1, and without the -1.

Re: F ING van, adblue issue.
There are several types of adblue, -1, -2, -3 mk4 euro6 is 12241-1 as on the filler cap.
As above I ran it for probably 2 years just using standard adblue, it was only when I started having faults that I was advised on here about-1.
Would be a good test if you could siphon your tank & replace with -1. I removed the filler pipe & used an oil suction drainer with a long tube.
Edit, have you managed to get the adblue mileage warning off the dash?

Re: F ING van, adblue issue.
No, the warning is still there.
Thanks for the advice, i have the -1 adblue and Saturday morning is draining time.
I'll let you know if it clears the faults.
Thanks pal.

Re: F ING van, adblue issue.
Update- Unfortunately as of 120 miles after draining, re-filling tank, and pulling the injector off to check for a blockage, still no joy.
Now looking at a map to remove the adblue countdown.

Probably the best idea. Adblue is a load of pish, literally.
