Doc

Post by stu_b »

Hi all
I've noticed in a few posts with people asking (some complaining) in particular to member upgrade access

Just want to say be patient
Not too sure what's going on as this is manually done by Doc
This is a private forum as such and handled in his spare time

It is very unusual that he is inactive as he is very committed to this forum and Caddy2K

Not sure if there are any members (regular / long term members etc) out there who are on good terms with Doc ie have his mobile phone number
I for one would would like to think n hope someone (who has his details) has touched base with him and he is ok n in good health and we all have nothing to worry about

Feel free to pm me if there is anything I can assist with
Regards
Stu

I did ask the other day. And I see he was online yesterday, so hopefully catching up.

When @Doc does upgrade you to full access, is there a notification received? Other than trying to open the other forum sections which currently don't work, interested in how did others know it had happened.

I requested access at the start of January, does it usually take this long or is there something I need to do?

As far as I can remember you don't get a notification. Your message will be deleted from the new members thread and you'll be able to access the rest of the forum.

Gotta be honest, it’s pretty blooming difficult to be able to view/post on this forum as a new member.

Yeah, I find it a wee bit frustrating. I joined in January and it's now mid March, I'd really like to be able to read the other locked sections.

But, I was a mod for 10 years on another motor brand forum so I totally understand the spam protection and it's very much appreciated, this is the cleanest, most focussed forum I've ever been on. It is hard work and very time consuming keeping on to of the tidal wave of spam and scam which to be honest, never stops. You would be shocked at some of the stuff I've had to read, delete and ban scammers for.

It would be good if @Doc dropped in at some point to give an update on when he will get folk approved.

Having had various posts approved or not, I kind of see why the level of admin on this forum is as it is. When the day comes that you get to view everything, it’s evident you’ll not be greeted with a load of random rubbish!

That's correct. I have never seen a spam post on this forum.

I also greatly appreciate how visually clean the forum is. To the point that I don't feel uncomfortable about checking in on it from my office desktop during the workday. It looks not dissimilar to any other document or program I might be working on at any given time.

I'm a member of other VW forums which look like the inside of a Japanese pachinko parlour, and down the left and right hand side of the screen are dozens of flashing/animated ads. Doc could be making money from advertisements on here, but doesn't. It doesn't seem to be about that.
