2016 2.0 TDI 102 5 speed gearbox oil service

Post by newbec »

Can’t seem to find a definitive answer to this.
Does the MK4 2016 2.0 TDI 5 speed gearbox require refilling through the reverse switch with a measured amount of oil after draining or is that just for earlier models and the MK4 refilling and oil level be done through the refill hole on the side of the box?

Anyone carried out an oil change on the above gearbox?
How much oil came out?
How much oil did you refill with?
Was it refilled through the reverse light switch or the fill plug?
TIA for any replies.

I changed the gearbox oil on my 1.6 a few years back. There’s a guide in the how to section but I found mine was different regarding the selector shaft and filling through the reverse light switch.

I ended up just using the drain and fill plug. The 1.6TDI holds 1.7 litres of oil, I think I only got 1.1 out but got a bit more in. I’ve not had any issues in 40000 miles of driving since doing it.

I did mine maybe 18 months ago on my 2016 Caddy 2.0 tdi 5 speed QYF gearbox and I got about 1.7 litres out and I got most of it back in the refill plug and topped it up through the reverse switch hole.
