My Swedish allround adventure partner - 2017 Caddy Maxi 2.0 TDI 4Motion DSG

Post by Sebhell »

Hello!

After some deliberation I bought myself a new partner in crime, a 2017 Caddy Maxi 2.0 TDI 4Motion DSG with 140 000 k's on the clock. Owned by a company since new, seems to be well maintained at VW through out the years.
After a couple of back and forth with the car company selling it I think I managed to land a pretty good deal. Hopefully she'll stay with me for a fair few years. Especially as the newer generation of Caddy Maxis have either 4Motion or DSG, never both, which is a shame in my opinion.

It will be used as a daily driver but main reason for the purchase is to be able to have a vehicle that ultimately can enable me, my partner and our dogs to go on several different types of adventures, small and large.

Use cases would be hunting, camping, trail running, long distance destination travel, motorcycle transportation etc, with the car as a base camp.

Plans for the Caddy
  • Sound deadening
  • Insulation for both summer and winter use
  • Double floor with drawers and some plans for a central section with a removable "lid" for the full floor to sealing hight accommodating a motorcycle
  • Building a cage for the dogs which can be removed if needed
  • Roof top tent
  • Some interior and exterior upgrades
  • Probably a lift kit
  • Some larger swamper'ish tires and wheels
  • Probably a fair few other upgrades along the way

Starting position? Here she is:

My father in law said that he had some alu rims with all year tires laying around that I could have. Spent a bit of elbow grease and got them looking fairly fresh!

Not a bad deal coming from steel rims in quiet a shitty condition, made a big difference on the car!

My rear wheel arches have been blasted by what I think is the front wheels. Got a shit ton of paint damage on both sides, especially visible due to previous decals.

Does anyone have any tips or ideas on how to mend this without having to repaint the entire cargo panels?
