As previously mentioned in the new members section, I am converting my 2.0 TDi into an R32 including drive train. I will log my progress in this post to keep you updated. All input, questions and criticisms are welcome.

should be interesting, your obviously confident if your painting the engine bay at this stage! id have done all the work under the bonnet first then painted it. Suppose it depends what needs doing!
Nice! Convenient that one can just unbolt the bulkhead, more cars should have this solution!
How much do you need to modify the engine bay to take on the r32? Are you going for sleeper-mode or is this gonna be a full out r32 on the outside aswell?

The R32 engine is a straight fit in without any mods, all the mounts line up for a straight bolt into place. i think the issue here that not many know is that underneath the body work its the same/similar chassis to the Golf, which makes things so much easier at the front end but a huge bit more technical at the back.
I've stripped out the van until its an empty shell, I've left the rear axle in place for now, I'll get to that when everything else is done and it means i can still move the van around.
The engine compartment has been stripped bare, degreased and now painted.
Next up is to build up the bulkhead, route the new wiring loom back into the engine compartment and fit the brake lines and fuel lines in place, fit the front suspension and cross member etc, then i'm in the position of fitting the engine, its a mammoth task but not as complicated as you may think.
When that's done it should be case of connecting everything up to the engine. Hopefully if I've done everything right and after i've built up the wiring in the dashboard and connected a few ancillaries i should have a running engine, that's when things start to get exciting.....
Anyway, I'm off to go lacquer the engine bay, it won't lacquer itself.....
