Re: Cheapskate Caddy 4 Engine Cover Mod / Hack
So I have 99% finished painting my caddy engine cover had some issues which I would like to share. Coz I’m difficult I thought it would be a good idea to do a two tone cover so off I went sanded down degreased and washed it.

After a clean and sand it looked like this.

So I started to prime it with no hassle all easy.

Once dry make sure you give a light rub down with 2500 grit, wet and dry. This smooths the rough primer and gives a good key for the coat of paint. So i started with the white. So as I was going over with Black didn’t worry about taping the middle.

So taped up the white and ready for the black.

This is where we had the trouble, it bleed.

M
The edges really bleed even thou I pushed it down and concentrated heavily on this.

So if I was to do this again I would do the black first and white second as taping up it is easier to do the black than the white.

So all I have to do now it touch up the vw badge then fit it.

Hope you found this useful if I was to do this again I would do all white and black the TDI and the VW badge.

Think it’s the wrong number.
Looks identical from the top but the ball joints seem to be different.

I’ve obviously fooked up, my fuel filter has an extra pipe so we are probably talking different engines.
They look different!
