My Reflex Silver TDi *Back from Bodyshop, touran'd and paint

Post by Michael ferguson »

Since this is my daily hack and the Merc is becoming more and more a weekend toy, I thought Id make this a bit more fun to get around in,

Current Spec-

Reflex Silver Caddy TDI
18x9 Genuine BBS CH Reps
VMAXX Coilovers
MK5 GTI Leather Steering Wheel
Touran Front Bumper with Fogs
VW ParkAssist Rear Bumper
Audi A4 Electric Suede Seats
Golf Mk4 Armrest
Wind Deflectors
Caddy Maxi Rear Bench
Euro Plates
Kenwood DDX-7029 Screen, Tuner & Rear Camera

It stayed like this for a good while-

But a few weeks ago, I took a notion and Last weekend I sent it up to Paul at autoalloys and shortly after I picked it up like this, Freshly fitted with Coilovers, Genuine 18x9 BBS CH Reps wrapped in 215/35 rubber-

I really wanted a nice stretch with the tyres, so the 215's on the 9 inch rims definitely gave me the right stretch without going over the top

This week I managed to source a Touran front bumper and its just arrived to go along with the Factory only VW parking sensor rear bumper, so yesterday the van went off to the paint shop for a session of body colouring and finishing off, Will post pics when I pick it up

Image

Also whilst it's off the road I knocked up some perspex for short term sound deadening through the bulkhead, when I get it back from the paint shop, Sound deadening the rear and a bit of carpetting is next on the agenda

Image

And the Leather GT Wheel to go on-

Image

Also Managed to pick up these front seats for it from an Audi B4 iirc, There fully electric with lumbar support and suede and will take a bit of work to get in, but, will be worth it as the standard seats may aswell be reconditioned Ironing boards...

Image

And i've just managed to arrange collection of a caddy removable rear bench, that makes it a crew cab, which will be handy on the odd ocassion. Should be here next week, so that will be getting test fitted along with the front seats in the not too distant future all being well

Image

Next on the To Do list is-

Tint the rear Windows
Touran Highline Clocks
Cruise Control
Electric Window Kit
Highline Flush Panel for side door Roller

Then eventually when I stomach the price... Caddy Highline Spoiler on the rear and possibly the Highline Front Valance, But undecided on that.

with your new steering wheel, what centre are you going to use does the standard one fit with the air bag or do you have to buy a new centre cover?

My standard airbag fitted straight in, Literally took 2 minutes to swap over, and so much better for regular driving than the standard plastic wheel 8)

Is the air bag attached to the plastic cover with the badge on then?

Yes that's it, I used a flathead screwdriver to pop it off, there's a square hole behind the bottom spoke on the steering wheel, simply put it in and pull down and it flexes a spring loaded bar to release it, that exposes the centre nut that hold the steering wheel on

Nearly bought a gt one today but I can't see how my 4 spoke centre is going to fit on a 3 spoke wheel. Looks like I have to get the whole lot which is a bit to much ££££ at the moment
