I'll be buying new mate.
I see a few on ebay. Some look in good condition tbh.
I was fortunate to buy a drivers side, correct part number new delivered for £295 about 2 weeks ago. Amazon of all places.
Trying to get a passenger side for RHD market is only going to be viable now through tps or vw.
Got the relevant drivers, ballasts, osram xenon bulbs. Just got to buy the other one for twice the price .

Ended the week well and got caddy out into the sun! Dusty as hell though. Hoping the window fitter can come next week then on to MOT.

Wheel fitment is looking on point- really a benchmark and quite an inspiration for what we can do to our caddys if you put some time and effort in.

Thanks dude. There’s some absolutely mad caddy’s out there which I’d love to get to the standard of but just can’t justify for a work van. I’d consider this build above average but maybe not benchmark. Really appreciate the comment though.

I did the wiring for the tailgate conversion today. I’ll post in a bit the details which hopefully will help other people.

Well that’s 99% finished now. Few bits on the interior and having the spoiler wrapped black (hence brake light not properly fitted). Really pleased with how this has turned out and thoroughly enjoyed driving it home today! Image

Hi.....

@dub_crazee I found this post when searching for a tailgate conversion. Great work btw!

I've a couple of questions regarding this:

Obv's I've barn doors & want to convert to a taigate if poss, do you have to replace the top & bottom panels above & below the tailgate or is it all there ie: strengtheners if you expose it?

Wiring too I believe is different, any looms to buy or does it just have to be coded in?

Cheers Johnny

Thank you!

The only bits that need welding in are the pockets. There is no extra strengthening.

Wiring is fidly and took me a while to figure it out. It needs repinning across the two plugs and also needs coding. In the end I think we even repinned one wire at the BCM end but this was over a year ago now
