DSG 1.6tdi Revving High when stopping!

Hi all, my 1.6tdi DSG starts bumping the revs up repeatedly when coming to a stop. Usually when I reach 1st gear.

It’s almost like it’s unsure if I’m trying to come to a stop or start pulling away.

Garages that I know locally don’t seem to know a lot about the DSG’s so I wanted to start with a post here to see if anyone has experienced similar?

The fault seems to be intermittent, tends to resolve itself once I’ve been driving for a little while. The van’s done about 120k, the rev thing has only started happening recently though which is concerning.

I get the same issue in both manual and auto mode. The rest of the gear changes seem to function as normal, no lights on the dash so far.

Could it be doing a DPF regen? If its idling at a steady 1000rpm intermittently?

A higher idle speed is also required when the alternator needs to deliver a lot of power. The PTC heating element consumes a lot of energy...

I would locate DPF pressure sensors. Add DPF cleaner to pipe which goes before DPF, usually the left one with connector on right. Do a regen.
