Bonnet bras...........

Post by DORSETVDUBSTER »

What are your opinions on bonnet bras for the 2k caddy?

I haven't seen any with them fitted, do they look ok? Also can you get a full cover like the T4/5 or are only the short covers with wind deflectors available?

I occasionally have a full bonnet bra on my T5. Okay as long as there is no dirt/moisture underneath as it tends to play havoc with shiny paintwork.

Have never seen a full size Caddy bra, only the half bonnet ones, but I may be wrong...

I've never been a fan of bonnet bra's, but when I bought my van it came with one on. I took it off but the front end looked wrong with the badge-less grille :? so back on it went

I dont know what the make of mine is but if i'm honest the fit isnt great, and on the underside it covers the bonnet release catch which can make it difficult to open until you get used to it. Also as stone174 says, regular washing and drying to ensure no crap stuck underneath otherwise say bye to a shiny bonnet! Despite these short comings i've kind of grown attached to it and until I get a badged grille it will be staying on! heres a pic of said bra;

That doesn't look too bad actually!! Nice van by the way, I'm loving the wheels. Are they RS6's?

Thanks for the kind words :D yeah like I said, I never used to like them but I think it works!

Yep wheels are RS6's, used to run LM rep's until I drove over a rock at night causing catastrophic failure of the barrel and instant blow out! :shock: think i'm going to stick with genuine now!

Be prepared for ruined paint.

My van had on fitted when I bought it. The bonnet had a 2" wide stripe of scratches across the width of the bonnet from where it moves slightly when driving. Where rain water had got underneath there were stains in the clearcoat from the rivers of water running down the bonnet.

I've got some photos somewhere before I fully corrected the bonnet. I'll find them and post them up.

For me a bonnet bra is meant for long journeys to protect from chips. Not as a long term thing. Put it on for the journey then remove when your finished.

If its to prptect the paint work from stones,chips etc then an alternative is a 3M product

Its a clear Vynil type thing that is cut to shape of your bonnet, fenders, grill whatever you want. It should in fact I think is only available from registered installers.

check out 3M products.
