First Caddy. White SDI....

Picked up my caddy today and I'm quite happy with it. It's a SDI in white and totally standard. First things to do are to give it a damn good clean inside and out (it's not too bad but not what I call clean). It could do with the Cambelt changing and a good service for peace of mind and it'll be ready for some light work.

It's no rocket but the daily fills that role well already.

Tomorrow will see a full paint decon - foam, wash, clay, de tar, de iron etc followed by a bit of AF Toughcoat to finish. If I get time, it's the interior and engine bay after that! When I get more time to spend on the paint, it will be given the once over with the polisher.

9am start and got cracking with the cleaning of the new beast.

Started with this...




A quick foam with Autobrite Snow Foam Purple


This was followed by Megs APC and agitation of all shuts, badges handles then a two bucket wash with Farecla G3 before Tardis and Iron X used for the tar and fallout. Below is the iron X doing its thing.


The whole van, including glass was clayed with Autofinesse Clay and Megs Last Touch QD as lube


Another snow foam and rinse, this time foamed with R-1NE


Dried off with the woolly mammoth and Autofinesse Toughcoat applied. It's great on light colours like this and left a great glossy finish.




Autofinesse Revive working well on the plastic - all exterior done - 50/50 on rear bumper below. Needs either replacing or sanding to sort it properly


The interior was ditched so Megs APC and a stiff brish attacked this followed by more revive on the plastics.

No more pictures of the interior, I need to spend a good few more hours bringing it up to standard but it's clean at least now. Nipped out on an errand and took the opportunity for some snaps.

So. I started to kit the van out for valeting. I got hold of a 350 litre water tank, some MDF (ply would be my first choice but nowhere had it for reasonable money. B+Q were sold out too! Anyway, I see this as an interim build before I change things and settle on one as this one will just be seeing what works and what doesn't. Progress so far in pictures below:

Window boards were cut the other day and after buying a new drill bit, and then snapping it, I finally got them screwed I. Place. They will be painted but I'm also planning on a black wrap on the outside if the windows so they won't be seen.




Section cut out of the tank cover to allow me to see the water level.


Even though I will eventually carpet, I will also likely be changing design soon enough so a quick interim bit of waterproof paint to smarten things up.





Next up is the window covers to paint, floor to put down and the little things like hooks etc.

It's keeping you busy aye mate. What exterior plans to you have for it?

First thing is to get the rear wiper off, debadge and wrap the rear windows.

The usual after - needs some wheels, and the rear bumper tidying up. Once it's earned a bit of its keep it will be roof spoiler, lowering and maybe a bumper colour change. A side rail cover would be nice too along with some black headlights, I quite like them on white.

Bit more done today. I need the van for wednesday so got the main things ready.

Flooring near the tank and curved shelf. Tank cover removed for the time being.


Test hanging of a few bits. Top window covers fitted but still require covering.

Today, I fitted the larger bore pipe with hydraulic spec fittings to the PW and tank outlet - this should increase flow rate nicely to the PW and stop it struggling at any time. A more elegant solution will present itself at some point but function is more important right now.
