Pure Dents Caddy

Post by Adam@PureDents »

Have been lurking around the forums for a while and have decided to make a build thread for our Caddy!

Well me and my brother (Dan@PureDents) decided to start up a Paintless Dent Removal (PDR) business in October last year. Dan had previously worked for another PDR company in the area but we decided we could do something better being on our own.

We have both always been into VW’s and I have had 2 Polo's including my current MK7 1.2 while Dan has had numerous MK3 and MK4 Polos and then a MK5 1.4 TSI Golf lowered on 3SDM 0.01’s...

Image

Image

Because we couldn't afford both a van and a car we took the hard decision in trading the Golf in for this...

Image

Image

It’s a 2009 1.9 TDI and we picked it up from Bourneville Van Centre in Birmingham (would highly recommend them) and its spec includes: twin sliding doors, electric windows, full VW service history etc.

Here's a couple of the Caddy with the Golf after it was put back standard.

So because Dan was itching to play with the van as soon as he got home we decided take of the replica Scirocco wheels and put back on the 3SDM 0.01’s. We also got it sign written by Teale Signs in Leeds who did a great job!

We then spent the following day giving it a good buff and polish which left it like this.

We then needed some pictures of the van for our website so we took the van up to Calverley Golf Club in Leeds when it was snowing and had a play with the camera (only an iPhone on a tripod).

Image

Image

Then finally came the lowering! Which was much needed, but with just starting up the business we had other priorities. We used Raceland coilovers on the front (wound all the way down) and the Darkside superlow kit on the back. This is just after we had put it on.

Image

Then here is just a few random pictures after it had been lowered. We are hoping to get it down some more on the front.

So next was the interior. We decided to stick some Touran seats in the back and some MK5 Golf GT seats in the front. The difference in comfort is second to none! So we took a bracket out of a Touran and cut it down to be welded into the back.

Image

Image

Then here is the finished result. The ride is pretty horrible in the back however!

Image

Image

Then we picked up a HID kit with restrictors to ensure the bulb warning didn't appear on the dash.

Image

Then after pondering for a while on if we liked the side bars or not we decided to remove them. It looks a lot more cleaner without!

Image

We then picked up a copy of VCDS and a cable and had a play around. Managed to change a few things and enable a few options, such as daytime running lights.

Image

Image

So that’s what we have done/added to the van so far. We have also added a Touran centre console but don't have any pictures of the front interior at the moment.

Our future plans include:

Touran V2 front
MK5 GTI steering wheel
18” Rota Grids
Camber shims
Remap
R32 Exhaust/Seat Leon Cupra R exhaust
Carpet and soundproof the rear
Maxi plastics
Touran Door Cards

As you know the list goes on and on!

We are looking into getting a new Caddy this year to add to this one, which will more than likely be one of the facelift ones. We will probably take that in the same direction in terms of lows etc. Thanks for reading and sorry for the long first post!

Nice wee write up and caddy looks real sweet as it is, looks like its on air in some pics it's that low 8) Was going to go down the route that your doing with the PDR but it was a big gamble with the tools being expensive and there's a few folk doing it now up here, but good luck for your future plans with the other van 8)

Haha thank you. We would like air but doesn't everybody? Well Dan has been doing it a few years now and knows a lot of our area in terms of traders etc so it was a no brainer starting up on our own. The tools are expensive as its impossible to find a decent supplier that is not overly expensive of them in the UK. We had ours imported in from America which meant duty fee's etc on top. I think we are going to find somewhere in Europe next time!
