Going to start a build log of my caddy
From it being written off to back on the road should be doing work most weekends if the weather is allowing it. Here are some pictures from before the crash which was caused by a learner driver outside my work. I wasn't even in the van when it got hit by them.
yeh mate they are here are some more photos
dont mind the scratches thats where a BMW driver lost control on a wet road and skimmed the side of the van
here are some of the pics from the first days work removing all the stuff from the donor van and getting started on the project
this includes full front end
rear quarter just above the rail
rear axle (as the fiat 500 bent mine by 2mm didnt seem a lot but looked very very far out)
doors
engine and 6 speed box and shafts
touran dash
and other little bits and bobs
so first job on the list was to tackle the front end get the old one off and new one on
including a new air-con condenser as that was damaged in the smash
the bls inter cooler was a bit of a pain to get into the front panel but managed to squeeze it in by flipping the rad mounts upside down
now for the clean up process
grinding welds back quick bit of rust protection
general clean up
looks much netter looking a little more factory using all the old spot weld holes and before anyone says it isn't going to hold
all the flitch ends hold are the lights the front panel holds the weight of the rad pack.
all done
Right it been a while since I've posted but was just waiting to have the rear quater repaired but gave the job to a couple of mates now and it's the usual excuse that they haven't had time to get on it. So the plan from here on is it to get another caddy and build that one up using the bits of the blue one so all my face lift all the suspension and so on. So keep your eyes open will hopefully be making some posts to let you guys know where I'm up to
Hi guys so were on track now. Finally managed to get another van it needs a bit of work but I have all the bits from my other van to transfer over. Going to focus on interior for now then move onto the suspension and wheels/running gear.
